Our topic is “the best ways of learning English”. Here is our group report.
Although we are in the same class learning the same language, we all learn a bit differently. Robert, for example, thinks the best way to learn was by reading English stories. He remembers better when he sees the words. He knows more words than any other one of us in our group. His way of learning is by seeing. But he doesn’t do much on listening. So he has difficulty in understanding what people are saying.
Linda thinks studying grammar is a great way to learn a language. She does a lot of grammar exercise. She knows the structures better, and she prefers writing to speaking. She finds speaking is really hard for her. She wants to improve her speaking skill.
Willy likes watching English movies. He thinks it is a good way because he can watch the actors say the words and by watching the movie he can understand English better. Sometimes, however, he finds it difficult because the people in the movie speak too fast.
Alfred says he learns better when he hears the words. His way of learning is by hearing. He often listens to the English text. Sometimes he listens to English songs. He doesn’t read much. He finds reading is a little difficult for him. He wants some advice on reading.
As for myself, I learn by seeing. I think I can understand better as I see it.
We all agree that the best way to learn English is to do more practice. We should learn English by using it. Some made very good suggestions, for example, joining an English club, having a pen friend and so on.
