概要：十九、状语从句(The Adverbial Clause)在复合句中，修饰主句的动词，形容词，副词等的从句叫做状语从句状语从句根据所表达的意思可分为：时间、地点、原因、结果、目的、比较、条件和方式等种类。eg:When she reached home, she had a short rest.(时间状语从句)I asked her to stay where she was.(地点状语从句)The children went to the farm because the farmers needed their help.(原因状语从句)Speak louder so that ereryone can hear you.(目的状语从句)It was so black that I could hardly see anything.(结果状语从句)Though it is difficult,we'll do it. 　　在复合句中，修饰主句的动词，形容词，副词等的从句叫做状语从句

　　状语从句根据所表达的意思可分为：时间、地点、原因、结果、目的、比较、条件和方式等种类。

　　eg:When she reached home, she had a short rest.(时间状语从句)

　　I asked her to stay where she was.(地点状语从句)

　　The children went to the farm because the farmers needed their help.(原因状语从句)

　　Speak louder so that ereryone can hear you.(目的状语从句)

　　It was so black that I could hardly see anything.(结果状语从句)

　　Though it is difficult,we'll do it. (让步状语从句)

　　His box is heavier than Lily's(box is).(比较状语从句)

　　If you jump a queue,the people will not be pleased.(条件状语从句)

　　We must do as the teacher tells us.(方式状语从句)

　　在状语从句中需注意以下几点：

　　1.在than引导的比较状语从句中谓语经常可以省略.

　　2.在时间状语从句中，通常用一般现在时来表示将来的时间，不用一般将来时.

　　eg：I'll stay till you get back.

　　3.原因状语从句由because,since,as引导时强调的程度不同

　　because的语气最强，它引导的从句一般放在主句之后，也可放在主句之前，用来回答why的问句

　　since和as的语气较弱，它们引导的从句一般放在主句之前.

　　for也可以表示原因，提出一个说明，但它引导的是一个并列的分句，只能放在后面，不可回答why的问句

　　eg：I was absent today because I was sick.(because连接诉说直接原因的从句，直接表明的因果关系)

　　eg: Since she is not at home, let's come another day.(since连接常表示明显的或已知的理由)

　　eg:I don't go home, as I am busy now.(as连接表述原因的从句，只是对主句内容的附带说明)

　　eg:It will snow, for it's getting dark.(for为主句表达的情况或事实提供解释)

　　4.在汉语中我们习惯说虽然但是,因为所以. 但在英语里不能说thought...but或者because...so

　　在英语里只有一个连词，有前就没有后，有后就没有前.
